Ken is currently Commercial Director General of the Department of Health, where he is responsible for driving efficiency and smart procurement from the private sector. Ken joined the Department of Health in November 2002 to head up the procurement of Independent Sector Treatment Centres and was appointed Commercial Director in July 2003.
Ken has over 16 years experience within healthcare operations in the USA, UK and continental Europe. While in the United States, he was involved primarily in the delivery of ambulatory and elective services. During this period he designed, financed, commissioned and operated a wide range of short-stay surgical facilities.
In 2000 Ken was appointed as Director of Strategic Investment for MG Technologies AG in Frankfurt and Hamburg Germany, and in 2001 was recruited to the position of Director, Healthcare with Amey Plc involved in bidding for major PFI projects in healthcare including the new LIFT programme for the NHS.
Ken was recently appointed Adjunct Professor of Management at Imperial College London (Tanaka Business School). Ken was born in the United States and educated in the United Kingdom.
